Condition

Hinged to the mount at the upper margin. The sheet has been cleaned since the sale in 2006. The black chalk has remained strong and image powerful. Sold in a gilded frame.

Catalogue Note

The attribution to Baron Gros was confirmed by Gérard Augier, who noted that, at this early stage in his career, Gros was very much influenced by Madame Vigée Lebrun.
