Condition
The painting appears in a generally good condition.
The paint layer is well preserved and stable on the support. There is a diagonal fracture of the slate at the centre of the composition, that has been corretly restored. This fracture does not disturb the lecture of the painting even if it is visible as a hair line.
Inspection under UV light, reveals few small restoration on the lower left, at Dante and Virgils feet, as well as some dots of restoration near the crawfish on the lower right. A small restoration line runs on the surface where the foresaid accident took place.
