Catalogue Note

FIRST EDITION. Mylius (1584-after 1627) was a renowned composer of lute music as well as a writer on alchemical subjects. The third treatise in this work dealt with alchemical subjects such as the philosopher's stone and chemical apparatus.

This set is somewhat misbound; volume 1 contains the Basilica medica, volume 2 contains the Basilica chymica books 5-6 only, and volume 3 contains book 7 of the Basilica medica together with the Basilica philosophica. The bindings match that of Mylius's Anatomia auri (lot 65).
