Catalogue Note
Caruso sang this role for the first time at the Metropolitan Opera House on 15 November 1918, a run of six performances of La forza del destino; Rosa Ponselle made her début as Leonora in the same production. Caruso presented this drawing to the great-uncle of the current owner, who was a fellow guest at the hotel.
