Catalogue Note

Autograph musical quotations by Brahms are increasingly rare at auction; this is an attractive example dating from Brahms's concert tour to Holland in January 1876. The G-minor Piano Quartet, which shows Brahms at his most expansive, received its first performance in November 1861, with Clara Schumann playing the keyboard part.
