Catalogue Note
These documents provide a fascinating cross-section of the wide range of activities undertaken by Adler, including the seminal folksong project Das Volkslied in Österreich. One highlight of these papers is his highly critical 1922 assessment of the twelve-tone composer Josef Hauer (1883-1959), whose compositions Adler considered a desecration of the musical canon.
