Catalogue Note

FIRST EDITION of Moroni's depictions of Monte della Verna in Tuscany, where St Francis supposedly received the stigmata in 1224, showing episodes during Francis's stay on the mountain and the chapels established on the site since that time. The plates were engraved from drawings by Jacopo Ligozzi, a former pupil of Paolo Veronese.
