Catalogue Note
A TALL AND COMPLETE BIFOLIUM FROM THE GUTENBERG BIBLE RETAINING THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE RUBRICATOR. The full sheet is preserved, showing at the fold of the sheet early instructions for the rubricator written in brown ink: "b" and "r" to indicate whether the chapter initials are to be drawn in blue or red; and chapter numbers. Each chapter number of the sheet is one less than the correct number, and a later, but early reader has marked the correct numbers in brown ink in the margins, thus chapter "xij" is indicated as correctly "xiij", and so on.
