Condition
Original canvas.
There are stretcher bar marks visible, with scattered spider-web areas of craquelure to the dark background, and to the right shoulder of the sitter. There is a single spot of surface matter in the upper left quadrant, with a couple of very minor traces visible elsewhere, including a spot to the lower left quadrant. This excepting the work appears in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals a few small areas of fluorescence surrounding the sitter's head, which may be in line with some minor retouching.
Housed in a thick, dark wooden frame.
