Condition
The work is in good condition overall, as is the board, which is free from warping and cracks. There is evidence of light wear and handling around the edges of the painting. Upon close observation, faint networks of craquelures are visible predominantly on the white paints (mother's veil, baby's arms and blanket) and the top portion of the painting (red paints). Examination under ultraviolet light shows evidence of pin-sized molds on the black paint (near mother's face and clothing); however no restoration was found. Framed.

Catalogue Note
“…Ang Kiukok believes that art is a vital part of life and should be linked to human struggles. His paintings of high impact originate from the desire to open the eyes of the viewing public to see the truth about the universal human condition, although it is also for the latter to seek deeper into the forces that construct the world and the very categories of our thinking.”
