Catalogue Note

In Exposed, Rolando (Olan) Ventura re-imagines the mysterious smile, the folded arms and the sweet androgynous ambiguity of the Mona Lisa. The current Lot is a portrait of a portrait. The artist renders the iconography in black and white and then flips the image to a negative. The uncanny stare of the Mona Lisa lives on, but the depiction is one that is witty, fresh and contemporary.
