  • 45 by 27.5 cm. (17 ¾ by 10 ⅜; in.); 38.5 by 24 cm. (15 ¼ by 9 ½ in.); 43.4 by 27.5 cm. (17 ⅛; by 10 ⅞; in.); 44.6 by 27.8 cm. (17 ⅝; by 11 in.); 43.6 by 27.5 cm. (17 ¼ by 10 ⅞; in.)

Acquired in London in 1960

Condition

The four paintings in this lot are in overall good condition, as viewed. They have all been laid on paper and are unframed. There is minor foxing, some staining and wear throughout the surface of the artworks. There are minor losses to the edges of the paintings. 'Saraswati, the goddess of learning, seated on a spray of lotus blooms, playing tambura', has minor creasing in the lower right quadrant. 'Varaha avatara, or boar incarnation of Vishnu' has a minor loss in the upper left quadrant and slight creasing on the left side of the painting. There is a minor loss to the lower right edge in the painting depicting 'Krishna killing the demon Bakasura.'
