Condition
Good condition overall with some minor wear and scratches to the patina allover the surface and some verdigris, especially on the lower part of the bronze. Nice cast, signed on the edge of the terrasse, with crisp chiseling.

Catalogue Note
Signée Glycon d'Athènes, la figure gigantesque de l'Hercule Farnèse est mentionnée pour la première fois en 1556, alors conservée au palais Farnèse. Ce sujet connut une grande popularité et les bronziers romains Giacomo Zoffoli (1731-1785) et Francesco Righetti (1738-1819) réalisèrent de belles réductions en bronze de ce modèle dans la deuxième moitié du XVIIIème siècle. La liste des petits bronzes mis en vente par Giacomo Zoffoli, imprimée en 1761, mentionne "Ercole di Farnefe" vendu pour 18 zecchini.
