ouvrant par deux tiroirs et deux vantaux découvrant cinq casiers ; ornementation de bronze doré : entrées de serrure, poignées et sabots ; dessus de marbre brèche d'Alep (restauré)
Condition
The illustration is slightly too clear. The commode looks actually less orange.
Veneer has dried-up and and is now slightly flaking (small losses and stains in places). As expected, the gilt-bronze mounts are slightly tarnished and rubbed.
The marble top has been restored.
Unusual and very elegant piece of furniture.

Cette commode reprend une architecture spécifique à Saunier, la façade étant munie d’un tiroir supérieur et d’un encadrement en partie inférieure soulignant soit des portes comme sur notre lot, soit des tiroirs comme sur plusieurs commodes portant son estampille. Parmi celles-ci, citons une commode vendue chez Christie’s à Paris, les 4 et 5 mai 2011, lot 321. Cette façade entièrement plate et empreinte d’une grande sobriété néoclassique est ponctuée de petits pieds cambrés.
