Condition

The illustration is accurate. Good overall condition despite the usual minor scratches and marks due to age and handling. There are the usual rusty traces inside but the tole is still thick and the construction is still firm. The decoration is slightly rubbed and has few minor chips. The surface has been revarnished to protect to the surface.

Catalogue Note

Egalement appelées verrières, sur le même principe que le seau à bouteille, ces objets à bord crénelé permettaient de caler les pieds des verres et ainsi de les rafraîchir tête en bas. Comme sur cette paire, les cinq paires présentées à l'exposition n° 242 à 246 illustrent l'influence prédominante des décors d'Extrême-Orient sur ces objets européens.
