An 18 Karat Gold, Platinum, Gem-Set and Cultured Pearl Blackamoor Brooch, Verdura

The carved blackamoor with a jacket and turban set with round diamonds weighing approximately 3.25 carats, accented by a cabochon ruby and a reverse-set ruby, further decorated with cultured pearls, the turban set with one pyramid-shaped sapphire, signed Verdura.

Overall condition is very good. The diamonds are approximately E-G color, VVS-VS clarity. The reverse-set ruby is a medium-deep purplish red, with minor surface cavities but these not easily eye visible, the circular domed cabochons are well-matched for color, moderately included. The cultured pearls with a cream body color, good luster, and clean skins, some of the pearls at the back with slight rose overtones. The face is carved onyx. The Verdura signature is on the back of the mounting along the right shoulder, scratch number 90572 just below. Height approximately 2 inches, width approximately 1 1/4 inches.
