Condition

This print is in very good general condition; glossy surface. With some light handling marks and a crease of approximately 1.5 cm close to the right margin only visible in raking light.

Catalogue Note

Giacometti’s sculptures were photographed by Man Ray for publication in Cahiers d’Art in 1932, and at the same sitting a series of portraits was made, including the present solarised example (lot 9). In gratitude Giacometti gave Man Ray a number of his own works, such as the plaster sculpture Femme angoissée dans une chambre la nuit, captured in the present self-portrait.
