Description

Composed of a pair of shield-shaped plaques of geometric design, set with circular-, single-cut and baguette diamonds, framing a central detachable motif accented with three brownish grey natural pearls, one button shaped, and two round to roundish, measuring approximately 10.05 x 10.10 x 9.90mm, 9.60 x 9.80mm and 9.65 x 10.25mm, and baguette diamonds, signed Cartier, two small synthetic rubies inset to the reverse to show how to orient the frame.

Condition

The two small rubies inset to the reverse are synthetic and thus this brooch may be imported into the US. Accompanied by SSEF report no. 79530, stating that the button shaped pearl measuring approximately 10.05 x 10.10 x 9.90mm, and the round to roundish shaped pearls measuring approximately 9.60 x 9.80mm and 9.65 x 10.25mm, were found to be natural, saltwater, with no indications of artificial colour modification; together with Gem & Pearl laboratory report no. 10914. Signed Cartier London. Pearls of brownish grey body colour, one partly with a green overtones, the other two with a rosé overtones, with a few growth marks and blemishes; for further information on the pearls, please refer to the SSEF report. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 18.00 - 20.00 carats, on average G - I colour, SI - I clarity, as gauged and graded in the mounting. Little sign of wear to the metal. Brooch pin with a rotating safety catch. In very good condition. Gross weight approximately 56 grams. Fitted case for lots 494, 495 and 496, stamped Cartier London 175 New Bond St Paris 13 Rue de la Paix New York 658 5th Avenue, the exterior of the case with monogram and coronet for Mary, Duchess of Roxburghe.
