Sapphire and diamond ring

Claw-set with an oval sapphire weighing 8.89 carats, within a border of brilliant-cut diamonds, size 52.

The SSEF report no. is 79299, not 79290 as stated in the printed catalogue. Accompanied by SSEF report no. 79299, stating that the sapphire weighing 8.89 carats, measuring 11.84 x 8.93 x 8.40mm, is of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating, 'royal blue' colour; together with a letter from Dr. Eduard Gübelin, dated 18 October 1982, stating that the sapphire is of Burmese origin, 'royal blue' colour. Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold, mounted in white gold. The sapphire is blue of strong saturation, 'royal blue' colour, with small typical inclusions visible under 10x magnification, a few small scratches, nicks and abrasions; for further information please refer to the report. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 3.50 - 4.50 carats, on average G - H colour, VS clarity. Normal signs of wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. In good condition. Gross weight approximately 13 grams.
