Group of gold and gem set vanity cases, Gübelin, and a gold and aquamarine cigarette case, 1950s

Comprising: a gold powder compact and matching lipstick holder, accented with calibré-cut sapphires, circular- and single-cut diamonds, each opening to reveal a mirror; a second gold powder compact also fitted with a mirror, unillustrated; and a gold cigarette case set with an aquamarine intaglio of a scorpion; powder compacts and lipstick holder with maker's marks, numbered, lipstick holder and second gold compact signed Gübelin, second gold compact with British hallmarks, all with assay marks.

Lipstick holder signed GÜBELIN, maker's marks, numbered 264045 and 72490, and stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. 53 x 15 x 18 mm. Gross weight approximately 64 grams. Matching powder compact with maker's mark for Gübelin, numbered 67858, and stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. 74 x 74 x 13 mm. Gross weight approximately 227 grams. Second gold compact signed GÜBELIN, maker's mark, numbered 294549, also with British hallmark for London, 1956. 63 x 63 x 10 mm. Gross weight approximately 128 grams. Cigarette case stamped 585 for 14 carat gold. 77 x 72 x 7 mm. Gross weight approximately 106 grams. Sapphires on lipstick holder and matching compact well matched in colour with some typical crystal inclusions visible under 10x magnification. Diamonds bright and lively. Mirrors in good condition, mirror on lipstick holder with some age spots. Fitted case for the set. Second gold powder compact in good condition, mirror with some signs of age to the edges, the metal with signs of wear and scratches consistent with use; fitted leather case. The gold cigarette case is decorated with floral motifs, and the aquamarine intaglio is in good condition with one minor scratch to the table visible with 10x magnification, not noticeable to the unaided eye. Signs of wear and scratches to the metal consistent with use. Yellow elastic band keeps cigarettes in place.
