The carved nephrite elephant with a raised trunk, with an ornate costume and displaying a flag, set with cushion, cabochon and calibré-cut rubies, accented by round and calibré-cut sapphires, further set with marquise-shaped, old European and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.00 carat, signed Seaman Schepps, one sapphire missing.
Condition
In good condition. The nephrite is rudimentarily carved. Diamonds are approximately G-I color and VS-I clarity. The faceted rubies on the headdress and flag are medium purplish red in color and are of good clarity, the cabochon rubies are pink-red and are of decorative quality. The calibré-cut sapphires on the flag are a very deep blue color, one small sapphire missing from the reverse of the flag. The ruby-set ring and the sapphire-set center of the flag can be rotated to show a diamond-set circlet and center. Dimensions approximately 1 7/8 x 2 inches.
