Description

  • platinum, diamond, emerald, natural pearl
The detachable pendant-brooch composed of scrollwork motifs, centering a cushion-cut emerald weighing approximately 2.85 carats, suspended from a necklace composed of 295 pearls measuring approximately 4.5 to 3.0 mm, with garland accents, the pendant-brooch and necklace set with old mine-cut diamonds weighing approximately 11.80 carats, length 20 inches, separating into various segments for wear as a choker or two bracelets, 2 diamonds missing; the pendant-brooch circa 1880 and the necklace circa 1915.

Condition

In fair to good condition overall. Two diamonds are missing: one tiny one on the vine-like center of the necklace and one small diamond to the center right (facing) of the pendant-brooch. Some discoloration to the gold on the reverse, where there has been some modification to the pinstem-pendant connector. Underneath that connector, there is an applied plaque with partial signature Tif & Co., which is partially obliterated by the modification work. One prong is broken off around the emerald, but the emerald remains secure. The pearls are a creamy silver color, with good luster and minor blemishing. The emerald is a medium slightly bluish green color and is slightly included. Minute abrasions to a few of the facet junctions. Diamonds are approximately G-J color and VS-SI clarity, with a few I clarity examples. The necklace breaks into two bracelets of 7 inches in length each. 14 1/2 inches total length. Fitted with a safety chain. Accompanied by GIA report no. 1162529959 stating that nine randomly tested pearls are natural, saltwater. Accompanied by AGL report no. CS 62035 stating that the emerald is of Classic Colombian origin, clarity enhancement: insignificant, type: traditional.
