Comprising a necklace, brooch and a pair of earrings, the necklace composed of 585 seed pearls, centered by an old mine-cut diamond weighing approximately 2.25 carats and a cushion-cut emerald weighing approximately 1.85 carats, further set with numerous old mine and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.95 carats and 15 oval-shaped emeralds, internal circumference 16 inches, one pearl and emerald tassel and one pearl pendant missing; the brooch centering a cushion-cut emerald weighing approximately 1.40 carats, the bow centered by old mine-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.00 carat, further set with a round and cushion-cut emerald weighing approximately .75 carat and numerous rose and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 3.70 carats, suspending a tassel composed of 36 seed pearls, one pearl pendant missing; the earclips set with two cushion-cut emeralds weighing approximately 2.75 carats and four oval-shaped emeralds, accented by numerous old mine, rose and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.85 carats, further set with 16 seed pearls; pendants detachable; the suite circa 1840.
Condition
In good overall condition with discoloration and surface wear to the gold commensurate with age. Evidence of lead solder to the reverse of the brooch and necklace mounts. The screwbacks to the earclips later-added. As noted, one emerald and pearl tassel is missing from the clasp, and three pearl pendants are missing from existing tassels. From the brooch, one pearl pendant is missing. The near round to slightly baroque pearls in shades of creamy to silvery white and ivory presenting faint overtones of rose, blue and green. Generally good luster with some examples exhibiting poor luster, in-keeping with the variety of the material. Minor to moderate blemishing with numerous examples with peeling and cracking skins. The emeralds range from medium-light to medium slightly bluish green and are predominantly moderately included. Several of the emeralds present buff-tops. The necklace's primary diamond is I-J color, SI-I clarity. The brooch's 2 primary diamonds are approximately J-L color, SI-I clarity. The remaining diamonds are approximately G-L color and predominantly SI clarity with the rose-cut diamonds being decorative in quality. Total gross weight approx 72 dwts. Accompanied by 2 GIA reports: No. 5151697223 stating that three randomly tested pearls from the necklace are natural, saltwater. No. 5151697070 stating that three randomly tested pearls from the brooch are natural, saltwater.
