Centering a mixed cushion-cut sapphire weighing 9.70 carats, the mounting accented by French-cut sapphires, further set with round diamonds weighing approximately 1.00 carat, size 6ΒΌ, signed Jamar.
Condition
In good condition. The sapphire is medium-light violetish blue with slightly watery saturation, very lightly included with some minor chipping by the girdle. The French-cut sapphires are medium violetish blue and lightly included, a few of the stones showing minor abrasions to the facet junctions. The diamonds are approximately H-J color, VS-SI clarity. Gross weight approximately 7 dwts. The mounting possibly circa 1925 with significant later alterations including a replaced shank and 2 modern round-cut diamonds; the oval-cut sapphire may also be a later-addition. Accompanied by AGL report no. CS 59278 stating that the sapphire is of Ceylon origin, with indications of heating. Accompanied by GIA report no. 6157817962 stating that the sapphire is of Ceylon origin, with indications of heating. Please note that the sapphire weighs 9.70 carats, not approximately 8.05 as stated in the printed catalogue.
