Description

  • platinum, sapphire and diamond
Set with eleven oval sapphires, connected by links set with marquise-shaped diamonds, completed by a clasp set with an oval sapphire, the sapphires and diamonds together weighing approximately 43.67 and 25.45 carats respectively, mounted in platinum, length approximately 400mm.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to AGL reports, all sapphires are natural, of Ceylon origin, with no indications of heating and clarity enhancement. Please refer to the reports for details. In our opinion, the sapphires are generally matching, of bright medium blue colour, all clean to naked eyes with good brilliance. Upon 10x loupe, there are natural crystal and fingerprint inclusions; two to three stones have tiny chips on crown facets, not seen to naked eyes. Diamonds are about G to I colours, VS to SI clarity. Condition: Platinum mounts, in very good condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by AGL report numbered CS 61944, dated 27 June 2014, stating that the sapphires are natural, of Sri Lankan (Ceylon) origin, with no gemological evidence of heat.
