Description

- Sudbury Market
- signed; further signed, titled and inscribed on the reverse
- oil on board
- 44.5 by 76.5cm.; 17½ by 30¼in.
Provenance
Phoenix Gallery, Lavenham, where acquired by the parents of the present owners in the 1970s
Condition
Sound board.
There appears a very slight frame abrasion to the extreme left edge and a further spot of surface matter to the pigs on the right hand side, visible upon close inspection, with a slight spot of rubbing to a single area of raised thicker impasto close by. This excepting the work appears in very good overall condition.
The nature of the materials makes for a difficult ultraviolet light reading, but there minor areas of fluorescence and probable retouchings to areas along the extreme edge, most probably in line with a previous framing, with a further couple of scattered spots elsewhere to the composition.
Housed in a thick wooden frame.
Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
