Catalogue Note

Norman Parkinson selected this photograph for the cover of his 1981 catalogue accompanying his solo exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London and a variant was featured in the 1959 November issue of British Vogue (p. 105). The composition showing the model Adele Collins wearing an Otto Lucas head dress was inspired by Kees van Dongen’s painting ‘The Corn Poppy’ created in 1919.
