Cartonnage très légèrement jauni.
Tirage à 1020 exemplaires sur châtaignier, celui-ci un des 20 hors commerce, n° LII.
Envoi autographe signé à René Char : "à René Char dont l’amitié rapatrie fraternellement A.C.", sur le faux-titre.
Durant les années de guerre, c’est d’abord par la lecture de L’Etranger que Char fit la connaissance de Camus, et ce n’est qu’après la Libération, à l’automne 1947, que la vraie rencontre eut lieu en Provence. Cette amitié fraternelle ne fut interrompue que par la mort de Camus en 1960.
