Description

  • height 8 ft. 11 in.; width 20 1/4 in.; depth 11 in.; dial 12 in.
  • 271.8 cm; 51.4 cm; 27.9 cm; 30.5 cm
the brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels and a silvered chapter ring, signed Wm. Webster/Exchange Alley/LONDON, with a painted inset rocking Chronos automaton in the arch. The five pillar two train movement with anchor escapement, striking on the hour and half hour. Finials replaced.

Condition

Overall good condition; the dial has been cleaned; the upper left spandrel with green oxidation; some minor green oxidation to central matter dial; painting to chronos and background refreshed; the japanned case in good condition, the decoration stable with some refreshment and some minor losses to original japanning with nicks and wear to extremities; please note the pan surface has not been observed under a black light.
