Description

  • height 30 1/4 in.; width 35 in.; depth 13 1/2 in.
One fitted with a frieze drawer opening to a baize lined brushing slide; the other fitted with a frieze drawer opening to a baize lined book rest on ratchet support flanked by writing compartments, the hole sliding back to reveal a well.

Condition

Overall very good condition. Each with a nice polished surface to the tops, the first which is fitted with a green brushing slide to the central frieze drawer with an old green baize lining which is possibly replaced but in good condition, the right swing door with some old bruises now infilled, right side panel with a very minor hairline age crack, the front panel with some minor infilled bruises, feet appear to be in good condition with some small restorations to raised moldings of feet, the green silk backing and chicken wire is replaced, handles appear to be original. The second fitted with the baize lined book support and writing fitments appears to have an old baize lining which is in good condition but possibly replaced, each of the doors and front panels with old infilled bruises and scratches, top of one of the left vertical supports with a minor hairline age crack; feet appear to be in good condition possibly with some small restorations to moldings consistent with age and use, the back panel with some inpainted restorations to bottom at join with flatform stretcher, handles appear to be original, green silk lining and chicken wire replaced; front panel with some very minor inpainting over hairline age cracks. Overall in good condition usual minor nicks, bruises, and wear consistent with age and use, the mahogany has beautiful figuring, color, and a nice surface. Attractive diminutive size and proportions.
