Description

the square backs with serpentine top-rails and interwoven strapwork splats, on square legs. Together with one armchair of a later date. 8 pieces.
Condition
Overall in very good condition, with some minor worm damage to seat rails. One side chair with an old repaired break to top of left stile at join with cresting rail. With old restoration to right side of cresting rail at join with right stile. Small veneer patch to back seat rail. Another side chair with small loss to leaf tip carving at splat at join with cresting rail. The armchair with old repaired breaks at joins with cresting rail and stiles and splat with some restorations. The later armchair in good condition and very well carved, matches chairs well but perhaps slightly different color of wood. Chairs in general are very sturdy and solid, some corner struts replaced or lacking. Usual bruises, nicks and wear to legs and stretchers.
