Description

  • 76.8 cm; 113 cm
the rectangular plate depicting an elaborate chinoiserie landscape with figures, now in a giltwood stylized bamboo frame of later date.

Condition

Please note the original plate has lost the majority of its original silvering; now the whole is backed with a later mirror plate; very nicely drawn and painted; appears to retain the majority of the original decoration, some small areas of old silvering do remain mainly around the trees in the foreground; small losses to paint particularly to the greenery/plants/roses to the foreground along the lake and in the trees. The rocks with some small inpainting to edges of brown rocks in foreground; faces and hands of the figures in very good condition and beautifully painted.
