Condition

Overall good condition; the marble top with some scratches and wear consistent with age and use; the table base is re-gilded; the central apron appears to be replaced; some minor nicks and wear to gilding.

Another similar table is illustrated in R. W. Symonds, English Furniture from Charles II to Georage II, 1929, p. 219, fig 178;  A very similar side table, in mahogany and with a lions mask in place of the shell and a vitruvian scroll in place of the meander and flowerhead frieze was sold by Sotheby's London in 1994, lot 70.
