Catalogue Note

The panels offered here, referred to as Procession Chinoise, were produced between 1811 and 1820 by an unknown French manufactory. The fascination with the orient, the panoramic quality of the landscape, and the interest in documenting costume, architecture, and flora closely relate this example to the oeuvres of the leading wallpaper manufacturers of the early nineteenth century, such as Zuber and Dufour.
