Catalogue Note

Originally the set was to have been limited to 377 copies, all signed. However, Conrad died before the set was completed, and signed only ninety-nine of the limitation pages. These were incorporated into special sets of the Memorial Edition, which ran to 499 copies.

Also included in the lot is a publisher's salesmen's dummy for this edition, c. 1925, with samples from various title-pages, dedication pages, prefaces, illustrations, etc. to be found in the complete set. Pasted to the rear endpapers are samples of the two binding styles in which the set was available (parchment or cloth). Bound in the original blue cloth with Conrad's signature in gold across the front cover.
