Conrad contributed a preface to his wife's 1923 cookery book, A Handbook of Cookery for a Small House. The preface was privately printed prior to volume publication in an edition of 100 copies. Keating suggests a publication date of 1922 although an inscribed copy to Sydney C. Cockerell (see The Joseph Conrad Collection from the Library of the late Stanley J. Seeger, Part I, lot 155) is dated 1921.
