Catalogue Note
Notes on Life and Letters brings together many of Conrad's essays, reviews and other occasional pieces from the years 1898-1920. The recipient, Sir Francis Trippel (b.1886 - d.1930), knighted in 1909, was a Major in the Army Motor Reserve during the First War. It has been suggested that he was Conrad's elder son Borys Conrad's commanding officer during the war.
