Catalogue Note

An attractive copy with an unusual inscription. The Shadow Line was the most substantial work produced by Conrad during the First World War. Frognal House in Foots Cray near Sidcup, London, was the original site of the Queen's Hospital (later Queen Mary's Hospital), which opened in 1917 as the primary centre for facial and plastic surgery during World War I.
