Catalogue Note

The most complex and autobiographical of Conrad's political novels. The Scottish doctor, amateur playwright and inventor Robert Dunbar Mackintosh (1865-1934) was a valued friend of Conrad's until the collapse in 1921 of a company of his in which Conrad had invested.
