Condition

Overall in very good original condition. The alabaster elements appear original and with wonderfully detailed veining throughout. Each of the alabaster elements have minor surface abrasions, some from contact with metal mount, shallow surface scratches, and edge abrasions consistent with gentle use. One of the alabaster elements with a minor edge loss at one corner. Another with a minor discoloration to the interior from contact with the light source. Each with scattered surface dirt to the recessed portions of the design. The four alabaster shades are a well matched set showing consistent coloration and veining. The alabaster panels present with a slightly less yellow hue when viewed without illumination. The metal mounts with some occasional light surface scratches, light rubbing, and surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design consistent with age and gentle use. Both mounts with traces of white paint to the surface that mounts to the wall. Each of the sconces has been fitted with modern sockets to in the interior. The original brass sockets fitted for bayonet bulbs are included with the offering. A wonderful example of Chareau's minimalist and highly sculptural lighting design.
