Condition
Widht: 10 3/4 in.
Depth: 13 1/2 in.
Very good overall condition. The surface with a few minor irregularities, including minute burst air bubbles, inherent to the material and production. The piece shows a few areas of very sensitively undertaken restoration only visible upon very close inspection. The first area of restoration to the rim, the second immediately above the bulbous form, the third below the bulbous form that continues into the body of the standard and with areas of localized repainting along the outer edge of the standard. One minor chip to the bottom corner at the base and two smaller chips to at the other corners, as seen on catalogue illustration. Some light shallow scratches and light dirt consistent with age and gentle use. This work is a lamp base, and is presently not fitted with electrical components. There is an original hole at the base of sculpture for a cord. The beautiful deep and metallic black glaze heightens the extraordinary sculptural form.
