Condition

Overall very good original condition. The work is a wall-mounted hat/coatrack. The brass central terminal presents with shallow surface scratches, abrasions, minor indentations to the surface, and oxidation. The coatrack with minor surface dirt to the recessed portions of the design. At the center of the brass element there is an original recessed detail that presently retains polish residue. The brass center terminal with one area of sensitively undertaken restoration adjacent to one of the armatures measuring one inch in length. There is an area of oxidation adjacent to this restoration. The lacquered armature with scattered rubbing, losses and oxidation throughout, as seen in the catalogue illustration. The colored terminals of the armature with larger losses to the lacquer, consistent with gentle use. All the fastening hardware to the center terminal appears original and intact. When viewed in person, this work presents as a deeply sculptural form designed with an equal attention to form and function.
