Catalogue Note

The AS initials are those of Anne Stevenson, daughter of John Stevenson of Albany, a patron of Myer Myers (see lot 1464 in this sale).  When the tray was sold in 1941, it was accompanied by a bill of sale dated Albany, April 15, 1815, recording payment by mrs. Van Cortlandt (Anne Stevenson) of $308.62 for the silver waiter (tray) and other pieces, including a coffee pot for Miss Van Rensselaer.
