Catalogue Note
According to David Howard and John Ayers, China for the West, Volume II, p. 384 and 385, no. 380, this service was probably made for the marriage of Adolpho Lindenberg (1768-1800) of Lubeck and Wilhelmina Müler on May 31, 1800, just three and one-half months before his premature death on September 14th of that year.
