Condition

The yellow drapery has been broken off and restored back; the finial at each end of the roof of the stall has been off, restored back and regilded; some restoration along the edge of the marquee above the roof and some restoration to the upright supports of the stall; there is a very minor fine haircrack across one of the uprights where it meets the counter and another short very fine haircrack running down the front from the green counter near the center. The figure is in good condition.

Catalogue Note

This present example belongs to the so-called group of 'Venetian Fair' models produced by the manufactory to represent the lively Ludwigsburg market, which Duke Carl Eugen of Württemberg held after his return from Venice in 1768. Another similar example is illustrated by Hans Dieter Flach, Ludwigsburger Porzellan, p. 591, cat. no. 735.
