Description

8 1/4-inch latched dial with tulip engraving to the corners, bearing an inscription along the lower edge Joseph Knibb in Oxon fecit, matted center with engraved rosette and date aperture, the weight-driven movement with six knopped and ringed latched pillars, tall plates with shaped upper corners, verge escapement and short pendulum, bolt and shutter maintaining power, outside count wheel striking on a bell, the hammer mounted vertically on the backplate.  Some restorations.

Condition

Mechanism and case associated. The case with small chips and losses to molding. The case is made of 18th century parts and later embellished, especially to the sides of the hood. With a glossy surface with some age cracks and slight bowing to door. The mechanism with light pitting to the brass, very nicely engraved. Please consult a clock restorer for a detailed condition report of the mechanism.
