Condition

Oil on canvas, lined. Surface in generally good condition, aside from areas of pigment separation at lower edge of canvas. Widely spaced obviously craquelure beginning to tent mainly visible in the sky and above the dog. Surface dirt, a few scattered areas of discoloration and dirty varnish. Under UV light; no apparent inpainting visible.

The Pont des Arts is a pedestrian bridge in Paris crossing the River Seine. It connects the Institut de France and the central square of the Palais du Louvre. The present work was painted en plein air from Quai de Conti, Paris 6è.
