Catalogue Note

"Jean Dufy's delicate touch is reminiscent of a breath. Just look at the legs of the horses, some described with only a thin line of paint. Study the bark of the trees and the strong composition of the buildings of the boulevards behind. Everything is in it's place, fragile and ephemeral." (Marie-Caroline Sainsaulieu in Jacques Bailly, Jean Dufy, Catalogue raisonné de l'oeuvre, vol. I, Paris, 2002, p. 72)
