Catalogue Note

Hermine David was an estabished miniaturist and printmaker when she met Jules Pascin in 1907. Members of l'École de Paris, David and Pascin became lovers and shared a series of studios together in Montmartre and Montparnasse, which is possibly the setting of the present lot. David followed Pascin to the United States in 1915, where they wed and remained until the culmination of World War I.
