Catalogue Note

The present lot is a rare example of the work of Ekaterina Petrova-Trotskaya, an avant-garde artist who completed designs for only three full-length productions before her death: Rimsky Korsakov’s The Immortal and Mozart’s Heaven and Earth and Bastien and Bastienne, which was staged at the Opera Studio of the Leningrad Conservatory in 1925. Several of Petrova-Trotskaya’s designs are held in the Bakrushin Theater Museum in Moscow.
